Best of Beauty 2017!

BYE BYE 2017!

The year has come and gone! I feel like this year was filled so many product launches that it was hard to keep up. Some things I bought because I read great reviews on them, while others I took a pass on. And then there were the products that weren’t necessarily new for 2017 but new to ME.

Let’s go ahead and get down to bidness shall we? Here are my 2017 beauty favorites! I went ahead and separated them by category to make it easier. I feel like there will be things that I miss but oh well. That’s life lol. (Idk who can remember every single thing they loved throughout a YEAR)

Primers + Setters

1. Cane + Austin Primer & Protect Mattifying Primer

This is a little on the pricey side but I definitely think it’s worth it. I started using it in the summer and have loved it since. It kept me matte in the summer where I didn’t have to touch up much if at all. It has SPF in it as well and that’s always important to have on your skin! I love having SPF in my primers/foundations because I get to skip a step in my routine. And let’s be honest I usually forget to apply sunscreen if it’s not in my primer/foundation already.

2. Urban Decay Complexion Primer

Another beautiful primer! Keeping my oily face in check has always been my main focus throughout the years. BUT this year I’ve also wanted my face to look as smooth and flawless as can be. I have a few lines (laugh lines and one damn wrinkle on my forehead) present on my face that can cause my makeup to crease a little bit. This primer helps keep it all smooth and stops my foundation from sinking into the lines.

3. Kat Von D Lock It Setting Spray

I don’t have much to say because I can sum it up in one sentence. YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE! Honestly its like hairspray for your face! It keeps your makeup looking amazing ALL DAY LONG!

Foundations + Concealers

4. Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer

Desi Perkins uses this in a lot of her videos! I bought it to try out her “No Makeup Look” and I absolutely love it. The coverage is light so it’s perfect when you want get out the door but look like you’re alive and not like a zombie LOL.

5.  Shape Tape Concealer

This is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of the Becca concealer. It covers EVERYTHING! It’s a thicker consistency but it doesn’t look cakey at all. I use it to highlight and conceal all over the face as well as a base for my eyeshadows. My dark circles and blemishes vanish when I use this!

6. Diorskin Forever Perfect Foundation

Jaclyn Hill uses this and it looked GORGEOUS on her in the videos so I knew I had to try it out. I love it soooooo much! It just makes your skin look flawless while still looking like skin. Smooth and perfect, that’s how your face will look if you use this! It’s pricey but well worth it. If anything Sephora always gives samples of any product you’d like to try.

7. Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

Another beautiful foundation! It’s matte, medium-to-full coverage, and light weight! You can hardly feel it on the skin. The price for it is awesome! I was expecting a price point of Giorgio Armani or Dior but it’s more like MAC Cosmetics. I’m happy her line isn’t over the top expensive because let’s be honest she could’ve made it pricey, IT IS RIHANNA. LOL. She has over 40 different shades as well so there is something for everyone!

8. Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation

Ok this one I can describe as cakey LOL. But its not in a bad way. I mean that it’s heavier than other foundations. You can definitely feel it on your skin. I love it though. I like full coverage, flawless foundations. It leaves a perfect base to work on.

Eye + Brow Products

9. Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette

There was SO MUCH controversy over this palette! Everyone was talking about it, both good and bad! That’s all you would see on social media. I hesitated to buy it because there were so many mixed reviews. I bit the bullet and got it like a month later and I’ve used it ever since. The colors are so gorgeous and different. I love using it with other palette too. It just has colors you don’t find anywhere else or as singles. It is a great palette for fall but I know I’ll be using this in every season.

10. Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Palette

Same thing goes for this palette. The color combination is just different and pushes me to get creative! It has some great shades you can use as basics as well as shades to liven up the look. Anastasia Beverly Hills always comes out with amazing palettes and the quality is always there.

11. Morphe Brushes Jaclyn Hill Palette

I don’t even think I have to really explain this palette. I’m sure everyone and their mothers has this palette! It has all you could ask for, colorful shades, neutrals, transition shades, highlight shades. And the price is so affordable as everything is with Morphe. Its affordable and the pigmentation is off the chain. They’re buttery and easy to blend. If you don’t have this palette, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

12. Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

LOVE LOVE LOVE peachy tones! This palette is perfect if you love warm tones and more so peachy pinky tones. I don’t have any other eyeshadows like the peach ones in this palette. Kylie Jenner’s peach makeup look she wore for an event was one of the reasons I purchased it. Over all great palette. I use this constantly.

13. Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow (all of them are my favorite but Diamond Dust and Gold Goddess are my most used)

If you love glitter then you need these in your life! There are so many shades they have but my favorite and most used are Diamond Dust and Gold Goddess! The applicator makes it easy to apply it on the lids. You can easily create a cut crease with the sharp edge of the applicator. The glitter is very opaque and has amazing pigmentation. There is no fall out whatsoever. It dries quickly. Go get yourself one if you want to spice up your look!

14. Makeup Forever Star Lit Liquid in Gold Champagne

This is a metallic liquid eyeshadow. I’m pretty sure you could use it as a highlight too but haven’t tried that LOL. It’s opaque and the pay off is great. My favorite way to use this is to use a warm transition shade and apply this to the lid. I blend it out with a shader brush, Voila! A beautiful eye look that took 3 simple steps with hardly any effort.

15. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper

This liner runs smooth and is a true black. It’s not completely matte but it’s not shiny either. I have when I use a pen liner and I have to shake the pen to get more product to come out LOL. I don’t have that problem with this one. It’s a great liner and very easy to use. It creates precise strokes so you can get that perfect wing!

16. Benefit Cosmetics Goof Proof

I love brow pencils! The Precisely My Brow pencil is a favorite as well but I love this one a bit more because I can get my brows done quicker because its got a triangle shape to it. So while one side I can create the outline with the sharp point the other I can fill it in quickly because its wider and thicker.

Powders + Blushes + Highlighters

17. Kat Von D Lock-It Setting Powder

When I ran out of my holy grail Laura Mercier Translucent Powder I decided to try out a new one and I knew that Kat Von D had one out. I haven’t looked back since… LOL. I love it. It’s got a little peachy tint to it. The powder itself is finely milled, it doesn’t create a white cast on your face. This bad boy really helps me from turning into a grease ball by the end of the day. Try this out if you are in the market for a new powder!

18. MAC x Patrick Star Patrick’s Powder

So I know Patrick just came out with his collaboration in December buttttt I’m obsessed with this. I feel like it just blurs everything and leaves a flawless finish to the skin. Don’t just take my word for it. You can find rave reviews about it all over social media. I only got one but I hope I can get another since he’s coming out with more collections!

19. NYX Sweet Cheeks Blush Palette

This little palette is affordable and great quality. NYX is one of my favorite brands at the drugstore. It has 8 different shades in it with various tones. I love it. One swipe of my brush and its coated with blush. Perfect for starting out your collection or to just travel with an have options with you.

2o. MAC Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul

Oldie but a goodie! This is a staple in my collection. It looks stunning on the cheeks. Very natural and glowy! Warm soul looks great on so many skin tones!

21. Anastasia Beverly Hills Ultimate Glow Kit

I reach for this so much it’s insane. I’ve used it so many times and theres hardly a dent in it LOL. A little goes a long way and the glow you get, OMG!! I don’t know if this is still in stores but I use it constantly so I had to put it in my 2017 favs.

22. MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Oh, Darling!

If you love makeup I’m sure you know about this baby. The most perfect gold highlight EVER! It was limited edition but they brought it back! The pigment is awesome but if you want to blind the aliens in space, spray some fix + on your brush first and then pop this on your cheek bones!

23. MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Give Me Sun

Another OG MAC product! I thought this would be a bit to orange or warm for me but I use it sparingly and make it work. It gives my skin a beautiful bronze look that says “sun kissed!” I think this would look beautiful on various skin tones you just have to know how much to use. MAC creates beautiful products, this one is no different!

24. Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer

25. Jeffrey Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in I’m Nude

LOVEEEEEE this lipstick! This is the first liquid lipstick I bought from Jeffree Star Cosmetics and I’m so happy I did. It’s not a warm tone nude like others I have, more of a neutral shade with maybe a pink tint to it.  IDK how else to describe it, maybe taupey? LOL. This is a very light nude shade so I always pear it with MAC Oak lip liner or a similar lip liner so that it doesn’t just fade into my face. The formula is very nice, not drying at all. It does not move at all and will last you all day!

26. Jeffrey Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Androgyny

I got this more towards the end of the year but honestly I’m hooked! I wear it all the time with so many different looks. It such a different color that I don’t have in my collection. Same thing goes for this shade as I’m Nude. Quality and formula are top notch. Super comfortable to wear unlike other liquid lipsticks.

27. Lip Land Cosmetics Amrezy Collection in Baked

Tried out this brand for the first time when Amrezy came out with her collection. I got three of her shades but my favorite that I use a lot is Baked! Its a rosy deep mauve color. Something different instead of a classic red or deep Burgundy red. Her collection is really nice. The formula is one of my favorites because it isn’t drying. I hate when liquid lipsticks crumble and crack.

28. Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw

If you haven’t noticed, I love Kat Von D Beauty. LOL. Her liquid lipsticks are amazing. Comfortable, long-wearing, and pigmented! Nothing but good tings about her lipsticks. The applicator makes it easy to use and line your lips.

29. MAC Lipstick in Peachstock

Ok Amrezy got me hooked on this because she always wears this! Many of the looks you see on her IG you will find that she is wearing this lipstick. It’s the perfect warm peach nude I always looked for. The formula is very nice, opaque and comfortable to war. It isn’t matte but it’s not glossy either.

What products have you been obsessed with in 2017? Like I said above, I’m PRETTY SURE there are things I forgot that I loved this past year but I’m having a brain fart. These that I listed stood out to me and I know I used them over and over again!
